Curtis Slidell

Curt met the other Nobodies in the late 1900’s on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon during an extended hiatus from the trappings of civilized society and responsibility. He’ll often reminisce about their brushes with death and glory, and especially the lessons learned- some of which he will share in this forum and some of which are too wildly irreverent, incriminating, or just plain beautiful to depict in words. Eventually he meandered his way back to college and into a career in renewable energy. Now he’s a proud husband, father, woodsman, first responder, occasional philosopher, and ethically refined savage. He recommends finding someone or something you love more than yourself and sticking with it. His advice to himself as a younger man would be to listen more than you talk and never accept a favor from someone you don't respect. He believes in love, science, scuffed knuckles, redrock, and cast iron skillets. His favorite mnemonic for tuning a 6-string is ‘Eric And Duane's Guitars Beat Everything’ and he prefers outdoor venues. He'd rather shake Willie Nelson's hand (again) than any icon of dogma, history, or ideology. Though he resides in the west, the north woods are in his heart and the outcomes of the ‘87 and ‘91 World Series’ have forever shaped his life and understanding of teamwork and triumph. Curt’s favorite quote for this modern world is “Freedom begins between the ears,” and he finds comfort in the opinion that there’s more wisdom in the laughter of a preschool or the babble of a trout stream than in all the halls and libraries of congress.
